A bit more about me

Hey there, college-bound students and proud parents cheering them on! I'm Liz Hunter, your future college consultant extraordinaire! My love affair with the college search process started way back when I was an undergrad “Angel” at Meredith College, taking prospective families around on campus tours. Little did I know that those early days would ignite a passion that's kept me in college admissions for over 20 years.

I've had the privilege to serve at several renowned North Carolina institutions – from the bustling Brickyard of NC State to the corridors of Duke University's School of Nursing, and now I'm happily settled at Methodist University where I continue to help students achieve their academic dreams.

Let me let you in on a little secret – my journey hasn’t stopped at the office.  For years I’ve been involved in several professional admissions and enrollment organizations including CACRAO, SACRAO, NACAC and I have most recently, added IECA to that list. I understand the importance of not only networking, but constantly growing and striving to be better.  It also doesn’t hurt to be surrounded by a fantastic group of supportive colleagues in higher education and independent consulting.

The idea of being a college consultant has been an aspiration of mine for years, and now, I'm finally making that dream a reality with my very own business, Longleaf College Consulting! This is my chance to share my expertise, my excitement, and my unwavering commitment to helping you find your perfect academic fit.

Beyond the academic hustle, I'm living the dream with my awesome family – my loving hubby, two incredible kids, and let's not forget my oh-so-sassy corgi, Bennett! They're constantly keeping me on my toes, bringing a storm of laughter and just the right amount of chaos to keep things fun and lively! Love and gratitude doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about them!

When I'm not busy shaping academic futures, I love indulging in my hobbies. Tennis, running, photography, and birding are my go-to activities to unwind and recharge.  And yes, I’m well aware of how nerdy that last one makes me sound.
